Run your rental business on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is where African tenants actually communicate. Safoa meets them there: an AI assistant that answers their questions, automatic rent reminders and payment confirmations, and — coming soon — document delivery and broadcasts.
Four ways Safoa puts WhatsApp to work
Two are live today; two are on the way. Everything runs on the WhatsApp Business API, so it's reliable and policy-compliant.
WhatsApp AI Assistant
An AI assistant answers tenant questions from their lease in seconds — balance, payment history, lease details, payment instructions — and escalates to you when it can't. It's strictly grounded in real records; it never fabricates an answer.
Explore the AI Assistant →Transactional messaging
Rent-due reminders, overdue notices, payment confirmations and lease updates go out automatically over WhatsApp using Meta-approved templates — with SMS as an automatic fallback.
Document delivery
Coming soonSend lease agreements, notices and receipts straight to a tenant's WhatsApp. On the roadmap — today documents download as PDF and receipts arrive in-app and by SMS/WhatsApp.
WhatsApp broadcasts
Coming soonReach a group of tenants on WhatsApp for building-wide notices. On the roadmap and complementary to bulk SMS broadcasts — use SMS today for mass reach, WhatsApp for richer 1:1 threads.
WhatsApp is the default channel for African tenants
Across Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and beyond, WhatsApp is how people already talk to their landlords, their families and their businesses. Email is rare for tenant communication, and phone calls don't scale. Meeting tenants on WhatsApp means higher response rates, faster payments, and far fewer 9pm phone calls asking 'how much do I owe?'.
Built on the WhatsApp Business API
- Meta-approved message templates power business-initiated messages like rent reminders and payment confirmations — so they're reliable and within WhatsApp's policies.
- Customer-initiated conversations (a tenant messaging your number) open a service window the AI Assistant answers in real time.
- Inbound messages are verified, de-duplicated and answered by the assistant, which only ever replies from real tenant records.
- SMS is the automatic fallback: if a WhatsApp message can't be delivered, Safoa sends it over SMS instead.
Where it works
Safoa uses a shared WhatsApp Business number, so the AI Assistant and transactional reminders work for tenants on WhatsApp across our supported African markets — Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. Message templates are in English today. Document delivery and broadcasts will roll out across these markets as they ship.
Nothing to install, nothing to learn
Your tenant messages your Safoa WhatsApp number like they'd message anyone else. They get instant answers about their balance and lease, log repairs with a photo, and receive reminders and receipts — all in one familiar thread. No portal, no password, no new app.
Respectful by design
Safoa only sends template messages within WhatsApp's Business policies. Tenants can opt out at any time with a STOP-style keyword (a two-step confirmation) and opt back in just as easily. Demo and opted-out tenants are never messaged, and phone numbers are masked in our logs.
